What’s New: 2023 vs. 2022 Nissan LEAF

The 2023 model has received significant updates you won’t find on the 2022 Nissan LEAF model. The 2023 LEAF is enhanced with a revised front fascia, grille, and exterior lighting. It also boasts bold multi-spoke 17-inch wheels with a machined finish and an illuminated Nissan badge.

The 2023 Nissan LEAF trim lineup has been reduced compared to the 2022 model, with the automaker now offering just two well-equipped trims, the LEAF S and LEAF SV Plus.

Nissan LEAF Specs: Electrifying Performance

The 2023 Nissan LEAF specs start with its fully electric powertrain, which features a 110-kW AC synchronous electric motor in standard LEAF S form. This EV drivetrain is rated at 236 pound-feet of torque and 147 horsepower and delivers instant torque for a highly responsive drive.

Opt for the 160-kW AC synchronous electric motor found in the 2023 Nissan LEAF SV Plus model, and you’ll have 250 pound-feet of torque and 214 horsepower on board. Both new LEAF EV models include the following advanced drivetrain features:

  • Single-speed reduction gear
  • Regenerative braking system
  • Eco Mode
  • B-mode

Nissan LEAF Range and Charging

Drivers have two Nissan LEAF battery options. The first is a 40-kWh lithium-ion battery in the LEAF S base trim. It comes paired with a 50-kW quick-charge port, enabling the LEAF S to reach 80% battery charge in approximately 40 minutes with DC quick charging.

With its 40-kWh lithium-ion battery, the 2023 Nissan LEAF S offers an EPA-estimated range of 149 miles on a full charge. Nissan LEAF charging is made easy with the availability of 240-volt charging at home or a DC fast charge while you’re out.

The Nissan LEAF battery gets upgraded when you select the LEAF SV Plus trim. This range-topping edition sports a 60-kWh lithium-ion battery, good for up to an EPA-estimated 212 miles of range on a single charge.

The LEAF SV Plus gets an upgraded 100-kW high-output quick-charge port to accommodate the larger battery capacity. It can reach 80% battery charge using 100-kW DC power in about 45 minutes.

Both 2023 Nissan LEAF EV powertrains include a 6.6-kW onboard charger and a portable 120-volt/240-volt charge cable that can be used to plug into a 240-volt wall outlet, with no charging box necessary.
